Customs · Norway

Norway sits inside the EEA but outside the EU customs union.

That means a shipment to or from Norway needs customs clearance, while a shipment between, say, Sweden and Latvia does not. We arrange the formalities as part of the job.

Declarations

04 — Why G-Trans

Four things worth knowing

One route, one company.

Collection, the road leg, the ferry crossing and delivery are arranged by us — you deal with one contact, not four.

Both directions.

Most of our work is Nordics to Baltics, but return loads run the same way, which is often what makes a route affordable.

Running or not.

A vehicle that does not start is a normal job, not an exception — tell us when you ask for a price.

Direct container-line contracts.

For sea freight we buy from the lines directly rather than through a broker.

By sea · Riga to worldwide

Sea containers — from Riga, worldwide

Container shipping arranged from Riga to destinations worldwide, with Asia as the main focus. G-Trans holds contracts directly with container lines and organises the shipment end to end — collection, export formalities, ocean freight and delivery.

How the routing actually works Riga is a feeder port. Containers bound for Asia move first to a North European hub — Hamburg, Rotterdam or Bremerhaven — and join a mainline service there. We arrange both legs and the transfer between them.

07 — Questions

The things people ask first

Q1Do you move vehicles that do not run?

Yes. It needs to roll, steer and brake, and we need the keys so the steering lock can be released — tell us when you request a price and we arrange a truck with a winch. Make sure the battery is connected, the handbrake is free and the tyres hold air; those are the things that stop a loading.

Q2Do you collect from a private seller's address?

Yes — collection from a private address, a dealer or an auction yard is standard.

Q3Do you cover Norway even though it is not in the EU?

Yes. Norway is in the EEA but outside the EU customs union, so those shipments need customs clearance. We arrange it.

Q4What about insurance?

Cover is confirmed with you when the shipment is finalised, before anything moves.

Q5Can I leave belongings in the car?

No — please empty the vehicle before collection. Personal items are not covered during transport.

Q6Which countries do you serve?

Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark to and from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia — plus movements within the Nordics and within the Baltics. For sea freight, from Riga to destinations worldwide.

Q7How quickly will I hear back?

Within 24 hours, and the same business day if you write before 12:00.

Q8Can you ship a container to Asia?

Yes. Riga is a feeder port, so your container moves first to a North European hub — Hamburg, Rotterdam or Bremerhaven — and joins a mainline service there. We arrange both legs, the transfer between them, and the paperwork at each end.
